Takumi Legal Community (TLC) is a membership-only community where IP professionals from the US and Japan can easily interact with each other without geographic or language limitations.
By joining TLC, you’ll make connections with like-minded professionals and grow your global network without even leaving your office.
TLC primarily consists of IP professionals from Japan and the US. Japanese members are a healthy mix of in-house staff and outside counsel.
When it comes to a professional legal community like this, we need to avoid unnecessary legal risks. Therefore, all members joining the community are required to accept a disclaimer.
TLC is a closed community, which means that information on the TLC site is not accessible if you are not a member. Also, you cannot join TLC unless you are an IP professional and pay a monthly membership fee.
Referrals are the best way to grow your business. But how do you make yourself known to people that need your skills and services? In today’s rapidly changing economy, the right connections are everything. TLC is designed to help our members grow their business through a structured, positive, and professional community that enables them to develop meaningful, long-term relationships.
Once you join, you can start communicating with other members through the members-only Facebook group. Here are just a few examples of how you can interact:
To help you get the most out of your first TLC experience, here are some things to know before you join:
Be prepared to help other members. Members are interested in getting to know how connections with you can be mutually beneficial. Also, think about what to write for your first introduction post in advance!
You are free to write a post, comment or like existing posts, or to interact with other members. If you plan a live event (e.g., office hour or webinar), please contact us so that we can coordinate the event and promote it to members.
The administrator of the Facebook group will be your resource to find your place in the community. Especially for the first few weeks, we will be in close communication with you to make sure you are gaining value from having joined the TLC community.
Facebook has an automatic translation service built-into their service. We will use the function to help Japanese members communicate with American members and vice versa. Also, we encourage our members to use DeepL Translator (a better alternative to Google Translate) as an alternative. In addition, we also provide resources for translation and interpretation by experienced IP translators as a paid option.
